Residential and Student Service Programs (RSSP) provides several environmentally friendly programs that support the Cal community. From hosting dedicated residential green rooms that won an EPA award to becoming the nation's first organic certified kitchen on a college campus, we are doing our part to put the green in Cal!

Housing Facilities Operations & Services in collaboration with the Office of Student Development and the Campus Recycling & Refuse Program are committed to expanding and improving our sustainability programs in the residence halls.
Our programs include:
- The 2006 EPA award winning Green Room, in the Unit 1 residence hall is designed to show students how they can affordably and easily live in a more sustainable lifestyle.
- Recycling in the Residence Halls
- Installation of low-flow faucet aerators & showerheads for water conservation
- The Global Environment Residential Theme Program (GET) provides a living and learning environment at the Foothill Residence Hall for students interested in social, economic and scientific issues affecting our Earth's urban, rural and global environment (co-sposored by the Conservation of Natural Resources Program).
- Sustainability Education Coordinator Program (USECs)
- Residential Sustainability Education Coordinator Program (RSECs)
- Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb Exchange Program (CFLs)
- Installation lightbulbs & ballasts that meet or exceed Title 24 Federal lighting requirements and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and local thermostatic controllers on gas heat boilers toward energy onservation.
- End of Semester Move Out Program (Reuse)
- Sustainability Weeks during both the Fall and Spring semester
- ‘Green Buildings' and LEED our newly-constructed apartments and residence halls have incorporated a number of "Green Building" features determined by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

CAL CLUB
Several earth-friendly items are available through Cal Club, Cal Dining's online bulk purchasing program for meal plan students. Purchase biodegradable detergent, health and beauty products [shampoo, conditioner, etc.] and dozens of natural food products.
