Mary Morse Hall is a historic traditional residence hall located at Mills College in Oakland. From its location atop Prospect Hill, students look out upon the Rhododendron Courtyard shared with Ethel Moore Hall. You enter the building through a beautiful living room with high ceilings, a favored gathering spot for Mary Morse residents.
UC Berkeley students will share the common spaces with Mills College students. This will be a great opportunity for students to engage in a cross-institutional and cross-discipline exchange.

2018-19 Projected Rates
The rate for a Mills College housing contract is less than a comparable UCB housing assignment. The UC Berkeley double-room rate is $16,670 and single-room rate is $18,785 per academic year. Note: Mills College is considered on-campus housing for budgetary purposes with the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
No Smoking Policy
Smoking is not allowed in any student residence, any campus building, or within thirty feet of building entrances, doors, or windows. Smoking of medical marijuana is not permitted on campus.

UC Berkeley students residing at Mills will be issued Mills College ID cards that will grant them access to key-card access to the residence halls and will serve as their meal plan Points card. In addition, this card will give them access to many services on the Mills Campus. Services available include sports and recreation facilities, computer labs, the library, and the dining halls.
UC Berkeley students will have access to the F.W. Olin Library for study during regularly scheduled hours. There also are select computer labs across campus that students will be able to access.
Restrooms in Mary Morse hall are multistalled bathrooms that are gender-inclusive/ all-gender bathrooms.
All gas, electric, water, and trash is covered in the cost of a residence hall. Students will have access to the Mills wireless network. Cable TV is provided in the Residence Hall recreation rooms. In addition, the cost of laundry is included in the housing fee.
Commons areas, including bathrooms, will be cleaned daily by Mills College’s custodial staff. Students are responsible for cleaning their rooms.
Mills College is a closed campus; this means all visitors to campus must check in at the gatehouse before entering campus. Resident Assistants also conduct building walks to insure residents are safe, and they serve on an on-call rotation to respond to any incidents that may arise.
UCB students will receive a modified meal plan with access to dining at both Mills and UC Berkeley locations. Students in a Mills College contract will receive 1,000 meal points per semester to be used at Mills College, along with 600 meal points per semester to be used at UC Berkeley.
UC Berkeley and Mills College have an existing shuttle that drives students to and from campus. To check the shuttle schedule, please consult the Mills Shuttle schedule.*
UCB students may access the Mills shuttle by showing the driver their Mills College ID.
*2017-2018 shuttle service information will be provided at a later date. Please note that transportation via shuttle buses to/from Mills College and UC Berkeley's campus will begin on August 30. Students will need to find their own transportation when the shuttle is not in service from August 14th through August 30th.
Yes, parking is available for students at Mills in the Richard’s lot or other commuter locations on campus for a $60 fee/year. UCB students may contact the Mills Department of Public Safety to purchase a permit.
Students who are interested in driving to and from UC Berkeley's campus would also need to work with the UC Berkeley Parking and Transportation office to apply for and purchase a student parking permit.
Berkeley students qualify to receive a personal mailbox at the Mills Mail and Copy Center at Adams Plaza for the duration of their housing contract. Students can register for their mailbox with the Mail and Copy Center. Mail should be addressed as follows:

New students will be able to move in to Mills College in mid-August to attend Golden Bear Orientation on Berkeley's campus. Continuing students will be able to move in starting when the fall term begins.
One of the special features about the residences at Mills is that each room is unique. These are not cookie-cutter halls with identical rooms; each one is slightly different.
All rooms have a standard twin bed, desk, chair, small bookshelf, and dresser. Mills housing is spacious and charming.
