Move-Out Responsibilities

Here are some important things for you to be aware of when planning to move out. Please be aware that failure to clean your room, furniture, remove trash, and take all items with you will result in charges. The room should look like it did when you moved in.

Clean your room:

  • Clean the microwave and refrigerator.
  • Return plates, dishes, cups, and utensils to your local Berkeley Dining facility.
  • Remove all wall and window decorations, decals, stickers, hooks, tape, etc.
  • Remove any items in the bathroom lockers.
  • Vacuum/sweep the floor.
  • Make sure all drawers, wardrobes, and desks are empty.
  • Remove all trash, recycling, and compost.
  • Dispose of unwanted or expired medications at the Tang Center Pharmacy.
  • Prescription medicines disposed of down the drain are showing up in streams and rivers. This could accidentally poison pets or seniors.

Reset the room:

  • Pack all of your belongings and remove them from the room.
  • Return all furniture and appliances to their original arrangement.
  • Turn off the heater and lights.
  • Close windows.
  • Lock doors.

Finish moving out:

  • Remove any bikes from shed/racks.
  • Claim all mail from your mailbox.
  • Update your local address field in CalCentral and forward all other mail with USPS.
  • Return your key(s) to the front desk during business hours; if after hours, return to the front desk dropbox in a checkout envelope. Panoramic Berkeley Apartments residents checking-out after hours should slide their keys under the door to the main office. You will be charged for any keys not returned and received by unit housing staff.
