When can I stay and for how long?
Available dates for Summer Experience Housing are between May 24 to August 14, 2026. Minimum stay: six nights.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for Summer Experience Housing, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of application, proof may be required.
- Either participating in a summer internship or job in the Bay Area, or attending a workshop, conference, training or other event at UC Berkeley.
- NOT taking Summer Sessions classes at Berkeley over the summer. If you are enrolling in Summer Sessions, please visit Summer Sessions Housing, where you’ll find housing options designed for students in UC Berkeley Summer Sessions courses.
We also require that you stay a minimum of six nights and agree to our Summer Experience Housing Terms and Conditions.
Summer applications open February 1
The online application for Summer Experience Housing opens on February 1 every year. Once you apply, you’ll hear back within seven business days. See the application instructions section below for details.
Don’t wait until the last minute to reserve your space. Applications submitted fewer than seven business days before check-in date will not be processed.
Where will I stay?
Anchor House Apartments – 1950 Oxford St. Berkeley, CA 94704
Located right across the street from campus, Anchor House is UC Berkeley’s state-of-the-art new apartment complex featuring shared furnished apartments with single-occupancy bedrooms, in-unit washer and dryer, and extensive community spaces including meeting and study rooms and outdoor patios.
New Sequoia Apartments – 1950 Oxford St. Berkeley, CA 94704
Located close to cafes, bookstores, restaurants, and shops, New Sequoia Apartments offer modern, furnished living spaces just a few blocks from campus. Designed for an independent living experience, the building features fully furnished shared apartments with single- and double-occupancy bedrooms and on-site laundry facilities.

Summer Experience Housing rates for 2026. Rates vary based on location, room type, and length of stay. The following rates are estimates. The total amount will be provided once you receive an offer.

Dining options
Whether you prepare meals in your apartment kitchen or try takeout from one of Berkeley’s many eateries, Berkeley’s vibrant food scene offers something for every taste. Guests can dine at various on-campus eateries or venture into the bustling Telegraph Avenue and Downtown Berkeley areas for a variety of restaurants.

Application instructions
Before you can get started on your summer housing application, you must create your campus identification, CalNet ID. If you are not affiliated with UC Berkeley and do not have a CalNet ID, you will need to first create an account using the self-registration process. Complete the steps below to submit your Summer Experience Housing housing application.
- Confirm your eligibility: Ensure you meet all eligibility criteria listed above.
- Log in to the UC Berkeley Housing Portal with your CalNet ID and passphrase.
- Select “Summer Experience” as the housing term.
- Complete the online application, clicking “Save & Continue” at the bottom of each page.
- Pay the $45 non-refundable application fee.
Once you finish Phase 1 of the application, your submission is complete. You will receive an email about your housing application status within seven business days. Offers not accepted within seven business days will be voided. Please note, submitting multiple applications may delay our response time.
Housing contracts and payments
When you receive an offer:
- Review the offer, contract, and Terms and Conditions carefully. If you miss your deadline to accept your contract offer, there is no guarantee that the space will remain available.
- Accept the offer and pay the $300 non-refundable deposit fee.
- A welcome letter will be emailed to you prior to your check-in date.
- Present a valid ID at the front desk on check-in day.
Housing amenities
Apartment furnishings: Each apartment is furnished and includes a kitchen with major appliances. Cookware and dishes are not provided. For more details on what is included, please visit your location page: Anchor House Apartments or New Sequoia Apartments. All provided furnishings and items must remain in your room/apartment. Missing items will be billed to your account upon departure.
Utilities: Water, electricity, and garbage included in rates.
Laundry: Anchor House Apartments have in-unit washer and dryer. New Sequoia Apartments have laundry rooms with washers and dryers.
Technology: Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) is included for all buildings. For more information, visit Technology Services.
Housekeeping: Residents are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and apartments. Building common areas, lounges, hallways, and stairwells are cleaned daily, except on administrative holidays.

- Personal microwaves and refrigerators – apartments include both a microwave and refrigerator

- Weapons of any kind
- Illegal drugs
- Candles, incense, or flame-lit lamps
