Family Student Housing Renewal FAQs

What is the Family Student Housing portal upgrade?

The upgrade of the Family Student Housing (FSH) database on the UC Berkeley Housing portal is needed to align with Campus Solutions’ Academic term-based system. The upgrade includes a rental agreement renewal process and offers more online options for UVA residents including the ability to purchase renters insurance from a UC-approved vendor.

The upgrade includes improved compatibility with hand held mobile devices and offers more online options for UVA residents including the ability to purchase renters insurance from a UC-approved ventor.

I am a UVA resident, why am I being asked to renew my rental agreement?

The housing portal upgrade, which is aligned with the Campus Solutions Academic term-base, requires that all UVA residents* renew their rental agreements to be included in the upgraded database.

 * If you are graduating in the Spring 2019 Semester of Summer 2019 Session you will not be renewing your rental agreement.

I am a postdoc and UVA resident. Do I need to renew my rental agreement?

No. As a postdoc, your housing account is not integrated with the student Campus Solutions SIS and so there is no need for you to renew your housing rental agreement.

Do I need to pay a housing application fee, new security deposit or first month’s rent to renew my rental agreement?

No housing application fee, security deposit or first month’s rent is required to renew your rental agreement on the UC Berkeley Housing portal.

What is the process for renewing my rental agreement?

There are two phases to renew on the housing portal: portal.housing.berkeley.edu
