Be Prepared to Show Your Move-In Time Slot on Mobile Device: Be ready to show your Move-In Time Slot confirmation (found in the Housing portal) when you’re in your car on the way to your housing unit. Some streets will be restricted to only students moving in, so you may be asked to show proof that you’re attending Move-In in order to access certain streets. You’ll also need your Move-In Time Slot confirmation upon check-in.

20-Minute Unloading zones: Each location will have a designated unloading zone where you will be able to temporarily park for unloading your belongings during your time slot. Once you are done unloading, you will need to move your vehicle. You may park for a maximum of 20 minutes at all unloading zones. The driver must remain with the vehicle at all times.

Print and Fill Out Your Parking Permit: You’ll receive a parking permit ahead of time via email. Please print it out and fill out ahead of time, as you will need it for free two-hour parking.

Free Two-Hour Move-in Parking on Move-In Days: After unloading your car, it is recommended that you move your car to one of the specific lots offering free move-in parking (see below). Street parking is also available, but it is metered or has time limits. Plan ahead and review directions and maps prior to arriving. Please be prepared for weekday traffic and additional traffic in and around campus related to Move In.

    • Note that the check-in area for Channing Bowditch is across the street at Martinez Commons, where moving carts will also be available.

    • Enclave Aug. 20 Move-In

    • Please note that you may not unload or park temporarily in front of Enclave. See map for details.
    • For Aug. 20 move-in: The unloading zone for Enclave is on Haste St. in front of the New Sequoia Apartments (2441 Haste St.). Carts will be available there for your use.
    • For Aug. 25 move-in: The unloading zone for Enclave is at Underhill Parking Garage, which is located about two blocks away. Carts will be available near Haste St. entrance for your use. You may also park at this location free for up to two hours.

Parking Lots With Free Move-In Parking 

After you unload your belongings in the unloading zone, please move your car in order to make space for other students moving in. You and/or your Move-In helpers may park at the designated lots below for two hours at no cost on Move-In days with your Move-In parking permit. Please note that UC Berkeley Permit Holders may NOT park at these locations at these times; check the Parking & Transportation Move-In page for details for permit holders.

Be sure to print out your Move-In parking permit (which you will receive via email) and fill it out in advance with your Move-In timeslot and the driver’s cell phone number.

Longer-Term Parking

After your two-hour free parking period, you will need to move your car.  Metered street parking is also available in many locations. Below are a few available parking garages.
