Family Student Housing: University Village (UVA)

1125 Jackson Street, Albany CA 94706 (includes West Village and East Village Apartments)

Launch Experience

Family Student Housing, called University Village or UVA,  is the perfect opportunity for students to enjoy all the benefits of an organized, family community. This 58-acre complex — with 974 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, and two-bedroom townhouses — is located 3.5 miles west of the campus. University Village has its own recreational and community center, laundry rooms, and child care center. (Tour the University Village website, designed for current residents.)

New 2025-26 Pilot Program for Graduate Student Couples

Recognizing that many graduate students live with a significant other, for 2025-26, UC Berkeley Housing is piloting a program offering two-bedroom, one-bath apartments in the West Village section of UVA to couples. There is no need to be married, in a domestic partnership, or to have children, but at least one member of the couple must be a UC Berkeley graduate student.

East Village Apartments

East Village Apartments are spacious two- and three-bedroom units and townhouses with one or two bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, living area, and study alcove. All apartments are unfurnished. Amenities include data lines for internet access, IPTV (Internet protocol streaming service), carpeting, window coverings, tiled kitchen counters, storage closet, a balcony or patio (patios are toddler-friendly with fencing and a gate), and a paid parking space. The community areas include laundry facilities, grassy courtyards with outdoor benches, and play areas for children.

West Village Apartments

West Village Apartments include one-, two-, and three-bedroom unfurnished units. West Village units include the same utilities and amenities as East Village.
