UC Berkeley offers a rental-listing service called Cal Rentals, providing information and advising for students, faculty and staff, and UC Berkeley affiliates looking for off-campus housing. The service is free for students.
The Cal Rentals website provides:
- Housing and roommate listings for UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff, and UC Berkeley affiliates
- Message boards to find roommates, sublets, buy/sell furniture, etc.
- Easy access to off-campus housing listings for students, parents, faculty, and staff
- A place for area property owners/managers to reach the UC Berkeley community
How to Reach Cal Rentals
- Visit the Cal Rentals website to view listings, find a roommate, learn about the off-campus housing process, and more. Log in with your CalNet ID and password to view listings. Guest access to the site is available for other campus affiliates.

Berkeley Housing Assistance Program
Co-established by the ASUC Office of Senator Grottel-Brown and Berkeley Housing, the Berkeley Housing Assistance Program offers students one-on-one support with navigating the off-campus housing search. A team of students, managed and trained by the Cal Rentals office, is available to answer questions and concerns.

Rental Verification
If you need a rental verification for time spent in on-campus housing, please send an email to BusOps@berkeley.edu with the subject line “Rental Verification,” and a Student Affairs Cashier’s team member will process the verification. (The Cal Housing office does not process rental verifications.)
