Summer 2021 Update: Cal Housing is committed to offering student housing during the 2021 Summer Sessions, which will be offered via remote instruction. Whether you are enrolled in courses or just staying in Berkeley this summer, Cal Housing encourages all UC Berkeleys students to apply now!
Incoming and current UC Berkeley students: We welcome you to apply to live on campus this summer. The application period opened on February 1, 2021.
Visiting (Summer Only) Students: At this time, we are unable to house visiting summer students this year in our residence halls and apartments. In typical years, we are able to offer summer housing for:
- Students from other institutions who are enrolled in Summer Sessions
- Students from other institutions who are doing internships in the area
- Anyone who needs short-term housing
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related public health guidelines that prohibit in-person events through at least the end of the year, Cal Housing can only provide housing to Undergraduates, Graduates, Visiting Scholars, and Posdoctoral Fellows for Summer 2021.
Please note that Cal Housing will continue to take inquiries for summer 2022 and beyond. Please send inquiries by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Our response time may be slower during this temporary closure, but we will get back to you as quickly as possible. We look forward to working with you in 2022.
COVID-19 Policies: If you live in campus housing during the summer, you will be required to adhere to public health policies designed to reduce transmission of COVID-19. All students living in campus housing during the summer will be required to get tested for COVID-19 upon Move-In. Unvaccinated students will need to get tested weekly, as well as self-sequester for 7 days upon arrival.
While you are living in campus housing, you are required to:
Wear a face covering that covers both the nose and mouth unless you are inside your room or apartment, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, or eating.
Respect the needs of those in your residential household grouping (students sharing the same restroom as you), follow shared community expectations, and communicate with one another regularly. Use the University Health Services best practices as a guiding point.
Respect the Residential Code of Conduct no guest policy.
Follow local public health ordinances, when not on campus
Follow testing requirements and recommendations, as shared by University Health Services.
Frequently wash your hands.
Beginning June 16, 2021 students living in campus housing can:
Use lounge spaces if they reside in Martinez Commons, Manville, or Jackson buildings. Please note that these areas will have capacity limits (listed on the outside of each room). We will expect you to wear face coverings at all times while using these spaces.
