What do residence halls offer?
All-inclusive amenities: Includes all utilities, Wi-Fi, and community spaces. Rooms are fully furnished, including a microchill refrigerator and microwave combo.
On-site conveniences: Each location has a laundry center, mail services, recreation room, and bike storage. Most locations include a fitness center or access to one nearby.
Prime locations: Close to campus, offering easy access to academic buildings, libraries, dining options, and campus facilities.
Live-in support, 24/7: Dedicated live-in staff support, from resident advisors (RAs) to faculty in residence.
Academic centers: All residents have access to academic services centers (with tutoring, exam review sessions, and more) at five of our residence halls.
Secure access: Each building has secured entry with trained residential safety staff and 24/7 support.
Residence hall options
Room types: Traditional residence halls, suites, and mini-suites.
- Traditional corridor-style residence hall: Rooms along a central hallway that share a communal bathroom and lounges.
- Suites: Collection of rooms that share bathrooms, a common area, and a separate locked entrance.
- Mini-suites: A unit with two, multi-occupancy bedrooms that share a private, dedicated bathroom.
Room occupancy: While triples are our most common option, we offer several room configurations. General Note: There are very few single rooms, and they are typically reserved for students with a documented disability need.

Blackwell Residence Hall
Modern, eight-story residence hall offering premium double rooms with no bunk beds. Traditional corridor-style room layouts. Upscale amenities include an on-site fitness center, hotel-like lobby, and spacious study lounges at a prime location one block from campus and the Recreational Sports Facility.
Clark Kerr Residence Hall
Traditional corridor-style and suite-style rooms located in a low-rise mini-neighborhood six blocks from campus. This Spanish mission-style complex offers tree-lined courtyards, green spaces, a historic dining commons, and access to nature trails, pools, and an outdoor track. The neighborhood is ideal for students looking for a quieter, less urban environment.
Foothill Residence Hall
Suite-style rooms in low-rise wood-shingled buildings surrounded by tall trees overlooking courtyards and the Bay. A peaceful housing complex nestled near the Berkeley hills and conveniently close to STEM classrooms, green spaces, and nature trails. High-rise residence hall complexes, each with multiple buildings arranged around a large central courtyard. Located in a lively, urban neighborhood near campus. Convenient dining commons, food options, shops, and downtown Berkeley are all located at your doorstep. Offers both a dynamic social environment in traditional corridor-style room layouts, and mini-suites in Units 1 and 2.
