West Village Apartments at the University Village, Albany (UVA)
The first phase of the new West Village Apartments opened in July, 2006, adding 258 apartments to the University Village community. An additional 324 new apartments were completed in August 2008, including 192 one bedroom units. (Maximum occupancy limit for one bedroom is three people).
Family designed units are located around courtyards with an open space greenway connecting the playground, at the center of University Village, with the community gardens on the western edge of the property.

Amenities. All units include wall-to-wall carpeting in living room and bedrooms, vinyl tile flooring in kitchen and glazed porcelain ceramic tile floors in bathroom. All windows have 2″ horizontal louver blinds and screens. Sliding glass doors have vertical louvers. 1st floor apartments have patios with bicycle hold, while 2nd and 3rd floor apartments enjoy small decks. Phone, data and cable TV jacks are provided in each bedroom, living room and study area. All apartments are unfurnished.
Kitchens feature solid maple cabinetry with swanstone solid surface counter tops, stainless steel double sink, 18 cu. ft. refrigerator, 30″ 4 burner gas range with oven, and range hood with exhaust fan and light.
Bathrooms have an exhaust fan which remains on 10-15 minutes after turning out light to remove moisture. Built-in linen shelves in closet. Common laundry rooms close by.

Floor Plans
West Village — Type II Flat
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 635 square feet
Entry: the door opens inward to the kitchen.
Living room: Beyond the kitchen, along the right wall, is the living room.
Patio: The living room opens to the patio through a sliding door.
Transitional space: On the left wall of the kitchen/dining area, an L-shaped hallway connects the living space to the bathroom on the left and a storage area ahead. To the right, the hallway leads past a closet to the bedroom door.
Bedroom: The bedroom includes a closet for storage with a door that opens into the bedroom.
Total area: 635 square feet.
West Village — Type V Flat
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 785 square feet
Entry: The door opens inward. The kitchen is to the right. There is a closet on the left wall past the entrance.
Living room: Beyond the kitchen is the living room.
Patio: A sliding door in the far wall of the living room opens to the patio.
Transitional space: Between the kitchen and the living room, to the left past the kitchen closet, is a transitional hallway with a window at the far end. Doors to the left open to the bathroom and the first bedroom. A door to the right opens to the second bedroom.
Bedrooms: Each bedroom has a built-in closet with a sliding door.
West Village — Type VI Flat
3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 half bathroom, 1,002 square feet
Entrance: The door opens inward. To the left is the kitchen. There is a closet in the right wall past the entrance.
Living room: Beyond the kitchen, from the entrance, is the living room.
Patio: The patio is at the far end of the living room from the kitchen and is accessed by a sliding door in the far wall.
Transitional space: From the kitchen, just after the closet, a hallway leads to the right to the bedrooms and a bathroom.
From the transitional space, there are two bedrooms to the left of the bathroom and one bedroom and a second bathroom to the right.
Bathrooms: The bathroom at the end of the hall is a half bathroom. The bathroom to the right is a full bathroom.
Bedrooms: Each bedroom has a closet with a sliding door.
Storage closets: Approaching each bathroom, there is a storage closet to the right, accessible by a door in the adjacent wall.
